“There are two kinds of people who stand for election: those who enjoy saying no, and those who try their hardest to say yes.
Politicians who try to say no will always claim that things are too difficult, that they cost too much money, that we have to accept that our county and our country has to accept cuts to services, lower standards of living, and massive increases in council tax.
Flintshire People’s Voice was founded by councillors who will not accept managed decline, by people who will fight to say yes. Say yes to better bus services run for people, not profit, yes to growing and keeping wealth in our local communities, and yes to a world-class dementia village.
We will say yes to a first-in-Wales programme that gives local people direct control over how their council tax is spent, and yes to protecting our communities from overdevelopment, whilst providing genuinely affordable homes in the right places for local people.
We believe – we know – that this is not only possible, it’s possible without huge hikes in council tax.
Flintshire People’s Voice will bring real hope back to our county. We will combine a relentless focus on getting the basics right – fixing potholes, collecting bins on time, and clearing drains – with a programme of improvements which every single person in Flintshire will benefit from, all underpinned by sound financial management of the public’s money.
We can have a brighter future, and we can fund it by cutting wasteful spending, reassessing the council’s priorities, driving real growth in our local economy, and unlocking the full potential of local people through a community bonds programme.
Flintshire is a great place, and it can achieve great things. And we know that the people of Flintshire share that same ambition for the place they call home, and for their families.
Fundamentally, Flintshire People’s Voice believes in Flintshire. We believe in a bright future for our county. To turn that hope into reality, it will need councillors who truly believe in Flintshire’s potential, and who have the ideas to unleash it. A vote for Flintshire People’s Voice is a vote to do just that.”
Councillor Sam Swash, Leader of Flintshire People’s Voice
